Itinerary

You will take an early bus or a jeep from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, the gateway of Langtang Valley. The scenic seven to eight-hour drive will take you past Trisuli Bazaar, Ramche Gaon, and Dhunche.

We will register our permits at Syabrubesi before proceeding The road is rough, but the alluring landscape will leave you in awe. We spend the night in Syabrubesi. Syabrubesi, being the mid-point to treks and the border of China, has all equipment, gear, and clothing for the trip. You can shop around and relish the marvelous ambiance of the small village amidst the green hills.

You will move ahead from Syabrubesi to Gatlang, a small Tamang village, following a narrow and twisty trail to Bahun Dada Pass before descending to Gatlang. You can also reach Gatland through Chawatar, stopping at Chawatar for our lunch. The food is amazingly delicious here, as most vegetables are freshly picked and organically grown. As we pass through the magnificent Tamang village, rich in its own culture and tradition, we enjoy our first hike of the trek.

Our stop for this day is Somdang. We hike from Gatlang to Parvati Kunda, a natural alpine fresh lake. Named after the famous Hindu Goddess Parvati, the wife of Lord Shiva, this lake is considered sacred by the locals. With its religious significance, you can also witness the natural beauty of the pure and majestic lake. Then you will follow the trail through lush pine and rhododendron forest to Yuri Kharka. After a delicious meal at Yuri Kharka, you will continue the hike towards the Somdang River via Khurphu Bhanjyang.

A few hours' walk from here takes you to the now shutdown mine. Despite being out of function for years, we can observe around and explore the astonishing beauty of the place. The deep tunnel used to extract zinc, copper, tin, crystal, and even rubies, is still there for you to see.

You will begin your hike southwest of Somdang Village, across Pangsang Pass, and reach Pangsang Kharka. The trail provides a panoramic view of Mount Manaslu and the Ganesh Himal Range. Many trekkers camp at Pangsang Kharka as the large plain grass field is wonderfully relaxing and pleasant. As you explore Pansang Kharka, you will discover a wide range of medicinal herbs. As one of the less frequented trekking routes, there are very few lodges around here.

You will start the day early and enjoy the sun rays kissing the blanket of mountains around you. After a delicious breakfast amidst the chilly breeze of the mountains, you will begin the hike. Initially, you will descend to Laptung village, passing through dense forests with amazing fir and rhododendron trees.

We halt for Lunch at Tipling and then follow the trail towards Shertung and Chalish. Shertung, known as a place of gold, has a beautiful history. Getting to know Shertung by exploring the village and interacting with the locals will make the experience worth it. Chalish, on the other hand, is a nearby village with its own fascinating tales. These are the two villages in this region far from modern influences. However, the locals and the village tourism committee ensure that the visitors receive proper food and accommodations.

We move ahead from Chalish to Hindung, also known as Gomba Danda while enjoying the untouched beauty you can observe from the trails. The raw and unblemished route will surely impress you. Hindung, a small Tamang village, is renowned for its crystal and rubies. If we visit in the right season, you will also be able to spot Yarsagumba, a famous medicinal herb in the surrounding highlands.

You will ascend to a higher elevation to reach Thulo Dhunga. The trail passes through a variety of floras and faunas. As you walk through the path, you may spot exotic animals like wild musk deer, boars, jharal, langur, and leopards. You will also witness magnificent waterfalls on the way to Thulo Dunga. We halt at Thulo Dunga for the night and relax in this isolated village.

This day will be exciting as you hike to Nojet Kharka, the base camp of Ganesh Himal. The trail will, without a doubt, amaze you with every turn you take. With the view of the snowy mountains, the serene aura of the place, and a little adventurous trail, you will surely have fun walking this route. When you reach Nojet Kharka, we will set up our camp for the night. The lush green field is immensely enchanting and will accommodate us while relaxing us physically and mentally.

Today you will stroll around the Ganesh Himal Base Camp and hike to the nearby ridge of Dobra Danda to get an outstanding view of the Ganesh Himal range. The Ganesh Himal range is very close from here and looks stunningly brilliant. You can also see two small lakes, Kalo Kunda (Black Lake) and Seto Kunda (White Lake), dazzling in front of the blanket of mountains. The locals consider these lakes sacred and believe that the lake waters have spiritual powers.

You will hike back from Ganesh Himal Base Camp to Hindung, following the same route you took to reach the Base Camp. The reversed perspective the journey provides is equally enjoyable. You will walk the serene trail enjoying the stunning mountain views and a distinct landscape. After crossing a dense forest, you will reach Hindung, where you will stop for the night.

Today will be a relaxing day as you will spend a good hour in the hot spring en route to Racyat and Kapur Gaon. We move south from Hindung to reach a built-up riverside hot spring. There is a hot water bathing pool and three natural hot water taps, where you can immerse yourself and let your tired muscles heal. The bath will mentally rejuvenate you as well. Then you will continue ahead in the stone steps built by the Kadoorie Agri Aid Association and British Gurkhas of Nepal. You will then pass Tir and reach Racyat and Kapur villages.

You will begin early in the morning, after a pleasant breakfast, on a route to Khading village, passing Lapchyat village - a small Gurung village. Though Khading is a small village, the warm hospitality of the local people and the astounding scenery will enhance your trek experience. Moving ahead, you will cross the Lapa Khola on a box bridge, walk uphill and reach Lapa gaon, the largest Gurung village in the region. We further move to Khading village to spend the night. At Khading, you can interact with locals and learn about their lifestyles.

The trek starts on a pleasant trail from Khading Gaon as you traverse through blue pine and rhododendron forests and terraced fields. The path has steep uphills, yet it is surprisingly beautiful as we pass through enigmatic settlements and farmlands. We finally reach Magne Goth, where you will stay for the night. Nearby Magne Goth, you can witness a large boulder where ruby extraction used to take place. You can stroll around the area and enjoy the depth and mysteries of the isolated village.

After a night at Magne Goth, it is time to head to Gorkha. It will take you a few hours. The trail today is mostly downhill, and the day finishes early. Be careful not to stress your knees and ankle too much. Passing through dense forests and witnessing the bewildering panorama of the mountains, you will enjoy the trail to the fullest. Then you will walk ahead through several small villages, including Dhonjet, Katunje, and Manabu, before re-entering the Dhading district to reach Lapu Danda, a small Brahmin village. The place is so beautiful, with bountiful farmlands and heavenly views of Mount Manaslu, Himalchuli, Shringi peaks, and the ultimate Ganesh Himal range.

We head towards Ganga Jamuna, enjoying the excellent views of Mount Manaslu and various other dazzling mountains. Following the trail through the lush green fields, you will reach Baseri and ascend to Dandagaon. The atmosphere of Dandagaon is so beautiful and filled with tranquillity. After a few hours of walking, you will reach the glorious twin waterfalls Ganga Jamuna, where you will stay for the night. With its religious significance, Ganga Jamuna is also a perfect spot for camping, as it offers magnificent views of the Langtang range, Ganesh Himal, Shringi Himal, Manaslu range, Lamjung Himal, Himalchuli, and Annapurna range from here.

As we near the end of our trek, the trail gets easier. You will hike from Ganga Jamuna to Tripura Sundari, passing through several Brahmin villages, paddy fields, and flat lands. You can enjoy enthralling grassy hills, gorgeous waterfalls, rhododendron and pine forests, and small isolated villages with enigmatic cultures and traditions. Up ahead, you can see Mount Manaslu as you bid farewell to the trek region. You will also witness the Akhu River, one of the most pleasant sights from the trails. Our final night will be here at Tripura Sundari.

The trek ends with a bus ride back to Kathmandu from Tripura Sundari. On the way back, you will enjoy final glimpses of the gigantic mountains.
