Itinerary

As soon as you land at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, our staff will pick you up and bring you to our hotel in Thamel. If your day/evening is free, you can stroll around the streets of Thamel, or go to one of the many bars/pubs or restaurants for drinks or dinner. If you are interested, you can also visit religious temples inside Kathmandu, specifically Pashupatinath where there is a group worshiping or “Aarti” program every evening around 6.

On your second day in Nepal, after a good filling breakfast at the hotel, we will take you sightseeing inside the Kathmandu valley. Kathmandu is a city of temples, you will find one at every corner. But the most popular one is Pashupatinath which is a great pilgrimage site for Hindus all over the world. Boudhanath and Swayambhunath are two very famous stupas here. You can also visit the marketplaces around Thamel and end your day at any one of the trendy bars/restaurants/clubs available around the Durbarmarg or the Thamel area. You can also shop for trekking equipment and gears around these areas.

If you are interested, on this day we can also schedule an early morning 1-hour mountain flight to the scenic mountains, including Mount Everest. Do let us know if you want to add the mountain flight package to this trip.

(30min flight) + 3 hrs walk
In the early morning, you will be picked for your flight to Lukla. It is a picturesque flight that will mesmerize you with the scenery of mountains all along the way. After landing in Lukla, we will walk 4 hours and arrive at Phakding following the Dudh Kosi River. Trek to the first camp of Phakding is through Cedar woods and pine forests. We will stay at Tea House in Phakding.

6 hrs
After having breakfast, you will begin your trek to Namche Bazar, enjoying close-up views of Ama-Dablam, Phortse peak, Thamserku, Kusungkangru, Kantega, Lotshe, and Mt. Everest. Finally, you will reach Namche Bazar and stay overnight at a lodge.

Namche Bazaar lies at a height of around 3440m. We take this day to get used to the height increase. You can use this day to get to know the local people, just have a day off from all the exploration or buy necessary supplies.

7 hrs
From Namche, you can reach Dole with around 7 hours of walking. It is a beautiful trail as you can see the close-up view of Thamserku, Kongde, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and Everest mountains. First, you reach the village of Kyanjuma. Until you reach Kyanjuma you will be walking on a high gorge of the Dudh Koshi river, and then start descending down to the banks of Dudh Koshi and through the rhododendron forests, with juniper and coniferous trees.

4 hrs
The trail from Dole to Machhermo is a steep one so it might be a tough route today but it is filled with a gorgeous view of the mountains Cho Oyu, Thamserku, and Kantega.

4-5 hrs
The route today is quite difficult as it is steep and consists of climbing huge rocky stairs. You will reach a terminal moraine of the Ngozumpa Glacier. After walking for a while you cross a small metal bridge and ascend slightly towards the first of the Gokyo lakes. The Gokyo Lake trail is comparatively new so you won't see many people in the area and the tea houses here are only recently established. The landscape is absolutely amazing and passing through the third Gokyo lake you will reach the village of Gokyo.

1 & ½ hrs + 3 hrs
After having breakfast, we begin our journey once again. The trail goes above the village and through the northern side of the lake to Gokyo Ri. As you pass through Gokyo Ri, you get to see astonishing views of Mt. Makalu, Mt. Lhotse, and Mt. Everest. Then we will trek back to Machhermo and stay for the night.

2-3 hrs
From here the trail descends to Dole and then to Phortse Tenga. Then we will ascend steeply to Mongla Danda through lush rhododendron forests. You reach Namchebazaar after descending through Kyanjoma.

5hrs
After having breakfast, you will begin walking through Sagarmatha National park and reach Phakding. From here, the Dudh Koshi River trail ascends to Lukla.
