This trek covers a longer route and more beautiful destinations than the Everest 9-day trek, so it’s perfect for you if you want to explore the majestic beauty of the Himalayas without any haste. 

Your trip will start with a flight from Kathmandu to Lukla which already shows you a picturesque background of the Himalayas. The Everest Base Camp trek takes you through many Sherpa villages, dense forests of fir and deodar, multiple suspension bridges across rivers, beautiful monasteries, and brings you face to face with mountains like Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Pumori, and Amadablam. The landscapes you will walk through are amazing and unlike anything you will see in the world. You will be walking right through the Sagarmatha National Park, which is rich in diverse species of flora and fauna. The local people you meet in the small villages and tea houses will welcome you with open arms and happily share their traditions and values with you.

Best time for the trek:

It is advised to not do this trek during the monsoon seasons, but both pre-monsoon and post-monsoon are good. The best time to do this trek is during spring and autumn as the weather is not rainy and fairly dry which means you can see a clear view of the mountains and the amazing landscape. October-November or April-May are ideal for this trek.

Although the whole trip may take you about 9 days to complete, the walking days are only 4 to 5, which makes it a great option if you are new to trekking, or if this is your first ever trek. This trek can also be a great practice trek if you are planning for more difficult and challenging treks in the near future. And finally, this trek will be suitable for you if you are on a tight schedule but want to have a good trekking experience of diving into nature and the local culture of Nepal, that rewards you with a magnificent view in the end.

This trek is not as popular as the other Annapurna Circuit treks, so you can expect a quiet and peaceful journey and truly enjoy the experience.

It is advised to avoid this trek during the rainy season as it is near Pokhara, which falls in the area of Nepal that receives the most rainfall every year. That means slippery trails filled with leeches and views blocked with clouds almost every day. However, during the other seasons, this is a perfectly good trail. The ideal time to do this trek would be around Mid-September to May.

Itinerary

As soon as you land at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, our staff will pick you up and bring you to our hotel in Thamel. If your day/evening is free, you can stroll around the streets of Thamel, or go to one of the many bars/pubs or restaurants for drinks or dinner. If you are interested, you can also visit religious temples inside Kathmandu, specifically Pashupatinath where there is a group worshiping or “Aarti” program every evening around 6.

On your second day in Nepal, after a good filling breakfast at the hotel, we will take you sightseeing inside the Kathmandu valley. Kathmandu is a city of temples, you will find one at every corner. But the most popular one is Pashupatinath which is a great pilgrimage site for Hindus all over the world. Boudhanath and Swayambhunath are two very famous stupas here. You can also visit the marketplaces around Thamel and end your day at any one of the trendy bars/restaurants/clubs available around the Durbarmarg or the Thamel area. You can also shop for trekking equipment and gears around these areas.

If you are interested, on this day we can also schedule an early morning 1-hour mountain flight to the scenic mountains, including Mount Everest. Do let us know if you want to add the mountain flight package to this trip.

(30min flight) + 3 hrs walk
In the early morning, you will be picked for your flight to Lukla. It is a picturesque flight that will mesmerize you with the scenery of mountains all along the way. After landing in Lukla, we will walk 4 hours and arrive at Phakding following the Dudh Kosi River. Trek to the first camp of Phakding is through Cedar woods and pine forests. We will stay at Tea House in Phakding.

6 hrs
After having breakfast, you will begin your trek to Namche Bazar, enjoying close-up views of Ama-Dablam, Phortse peak, Thamserku, Kusungkangru, Kantega, Lotshe, and Mt. Everest. Finally, you will reach Namche Bazar and stay overnight at a lodge.

Namche Bazaar lies at a height of around 3440m. We take this day to get used to the height increase. You can use this day to get to know the local people, just have a day off from all the exploration or buy necessary supplies

5 hrs
After 4-5 hours of trek, we arrive at Tengboche through Chortens Stupas, Rhododendron forests, and a Mani wall to reach Phunge Thanka where we stop for lunch. After lunch, we start climbing for around 1.5 hours to reach Tangboche by crossing a suspension bridge. The trail gets relatively tougher after this point. As soon as you reach Tengboche, you will be pleasantly surprised by the view of the mountains backdropping the largest monastery in the Khumbu region. In the evening, you can be a part of the live ceremony in the monastery performed by the monks.

5 hrs
After having breakfast at the lodge, the trek descends through beautiful forests of rhododendron. The trail goes crossing a suspension bridge after passing through the Imjan Khola. To reach Pangboche you have to pass by a long mani wall and walk through summer pastures.

4 hrs
Continuing on the trek, the trail descends to Pheriche village. On the way, you can see marvelous views of Ama Dablam, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Tawache, and others. From here, you will cross a small wooden bridge after passing Dugla village. We will stay overnight at Lobuche

3.5 hrs
Today, The trail will be tougher than other days. You will have to ascend through a glacier path and a rocky moraine. You will pass by Gorak Shep, and further continue to Everest Base Camp. After spending a few hours at the EBC, you will trek back to Gorak Shep for the night.

3hrs + 2.5 hrs
In the early morning, you ascend to Kala Patthar, which is a famous viewpoint in the Everest region. From here, you will see 360- degree views of the snow-capped mountains along with a glorious sunrise. Spend some hours at the viewpoint and descend to Pheriche for the night's stay.

5.5 hrs
After having breakfast, the trail descends to Namche Bazaar. You will trek through dense forests and delightful small villages following the same path. We’ll overnight at Namche bazaar.

5hrs
After having breakfast, you will begin walking through Sagarmatha National park and reach Phakding. From here, the Dudh Koshi River trail ascends to Lukla.

30 min flight
Today, you have an early morning flight back to Kathmandu. Upon reaching Kathmandu, you can get some rest and explore more of the city.

Finally, on the last day of your trip, we will drive you from our hotel in Kathmandu to Tribhuvan International Airport for departure
