Everest Base Camp Short Trek

9 Days

Panchase danda lies almost 28 km west of Pokhara.

Overview

Everest Base Camp trek is one of the most popular treks of Nepal. As you already know, Everest is the tallest mountain in the world, and there is an astounding number of trekkers who want to experience the beauty of Everest. For many, touching the base of the world’s tallest mountain is a bucket list item, and those who have climbed that far, describe it as one of the best experiences of their life.

This trek is not as easy as the Everest View Trek, but it is also not as difficult as the Everest High Pass trek. If you maintain a good physical fitness regime, this trip won’t be very difficult or strenuous for you. However, if this is your first trek, you should note that the maximum height you will have to reach is 5,545m above sea level, which can cause altitude sickness. And if you are not in good physical shape, and experience difficulty in walking, you should reconsider this trek and go for an easier trek first and come back to this later.

During the entire trek, you will be enchanted by the Himalayas, as you will come very close to some of the tallest mountains in the world like Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Pumori, and Amadablam. The trail goes through alpine forests filled with rhododendron in the spring, and in the autumn it offers a different but equally amazing view. You will get a chance to drench yourself in the rich culture of the local Sherpa communities, and visit some exquisite monasteries, including Tangboche Monastery which is the largest “Gompa” in the Khumbu region of Nepal.

Best time for the trek:

It is advised to not do this trek during the monsoon seasons, but both pre-monsoon and post-monsoon are good. The best time to do this trek is during spring and autumn as the weather is not rainy and fairly dry which means you can see a clear view of the mountains and the amazing landscape. October-November or April-May are ideal for this trek.
